🚨I secured $250,000 for the construction of an East Bay Regional Fire Training Facility🚨
The facility will be a central hub for firefighter recruitment & training & will serve Northern Alameda & Western Contra Costa counties by establishing a well-trained & resourced emergency-responder workforce.
🚨I secured $250,000 for the Manufacturing and Fabrication Pathway Lab facilities at Laney College & the College of Alameda🚨
These FabLabs serve as work & learning spaces where students & entrepreneurs, can utilize tech—like 3D printers, laser cutters, & robotics tools—to bring designs to life.
🚨I secured $1 MILLION+ for a Pediatric Blood Disorder Research Center at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland🚨
After losing my husband, Kevin, to a rare form of blood cancer in 2014, I promised myself I would fight for accessible healthcare & funding for research & innovation in his memory.
It was great to sit down with UC Berkeley law students, faculty, and staff for a conversation on how to make public institutions and systems more fair, more accessible, and more responsive to the communities they serve.
🚨I secured over $1 MILLION in federal Community Project funding for The City of Oakland's Department of Violence Prevention Operation Ceasefire-Lifeline Program🚨
I attended the 23rd Annual Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Luncheon where we honored Oakland's Black-owned businesses & discussed the future of innovation, tech, & AI in the small business space.
I know Black-owned businesses are foundational to Oakland’s economy.
Had so much fun watching the Valkyries play today at the White Horse Inn and Golden Ratio in Oakland with so many incredible fans!
Incredible game, Valks, can't wait to watch game seven here at home on Saturday. You make us ALL proud.
We lost a generational leader in Dolores Huerta.
Ms. Huerta proved that the best policy in this country comes from people who never get a seat behind the dais. She showed up. For 70 years, in every field, courtroom, picket line, campaign, she showed up again & again when the odds said stay home.

The administration's attacks on immigrant communities continue, but I refuse to stand by while our neighbors are uprooted from their lives and homes.
I'm proud to support @reprashida.govpeeps.us legislation to extend Temporary Protected Status for Yemenis.

Mills College at Northeastern University is one of the jewels of Oakland. I came to this campus as a student and young single mother and walked these paths with my child.
This week, I stood with the workers of SEIU 1000 as they fought for better contract terms.
In Congress, I am committed to protecting the right to organize and will continue to fight to advance labor protections and collective bargaining rights at the federal level.
Last week, I joined one of Scientific Adventures for Girls afterschool STEM classes at Hoover Elementary in Oakland.
The young girls I met were curious, inquisitive, and so very bright.
This week, I hosted my first Annual Mayors Luncheon with mayors from all seven cities in CA-12 to hear directly from them about the needs of each city. I also shared the work I am doing in Congress to protect our immigrant neighbors, fight for healthcare, advance disability justice, & more.

Over the past few months, the Trump Administration has been working behind the scenes to reinterpret portions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the Olmstead v. L.C. decision - all of which protect the rights and dignity of people with disabilities.
It was powerful to be in community in Oakland to honor the enduring legacy of the Black Panther Party for Self Defense.
The Panthers started a movement that laid a blueprint for collective liberation that we're still following today - the fight for housing, food security, education, & justice.
This week near Bethlehem, Israeli forces declared a Palestinian olive grove a closed military zone and detained roughly ninety volunteers, among them dozens of American citizens and rabbis, who had come to help farmers harvest trees they had been kept from for three years.
